CBD Oil Myths Debunked

CBD oil is everywhere, from vape shops selling creams and gummies to cafes serving cakes with CBD-infused icing. Even bars are concocting cocktails with CBD, eager to jump on the trend.

A number of worldwide studies – on both animals and humans – have examined the link between CBD and pain relief in particular, which are thought to be down to the oil’s ability to reduce inflammation and interact with neurotransmitters. However, there is still so much confusion around what it actually is, what it does and how it can help you, as well as legality issues, too.

So – to ease your mind and introduce you to our products – we’ve put together some common CBD oil myths officially debunked to hopefully make things a little clearer.

4 most common myths about CBD oil

  • Myth 1#: CBD Oil is illegal
  • Myth 2#: CBD Oil gets you high
  • Myth 3#: You have to smoke CBD Oil
  • Myth 4#: CBD Oil has loads of health risks

1. MYTH: CBD IS ILLEGAL

FACT: CBD is legal as it is extracted from the naturally-occurring non-drug strains of cannabis.

These have high levels of Cannabidiol (which is where CBD gets its name) but only trace amounts of the legally-regulated, psychoactive ingredient known as THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) which is found in medical (and recreational) marijuana, depending on the country in which you reside.

It’s a naturally occurring substance which can be extracted and mixed with what’s known as a carrier oil – often hemp seed or coconut. Therefore, it is legal to buy and consume CBD oil – not cannabis oil – in the UK.

2. MYTH: CBD OIL GETS YOU HIGH

FACT: As mentioned above, the key difference between CBD oil and cannabis is that it doesn’t get you high. In fact, it has a completely different effect on the body, largely as CBD is therapeutic, not psychoactive. It’s important to note that it’s not a recreational replacement and doesn’t work like cannabis does. The reason for this is it does not connect the neutral receptors in your body.

Unlike THC, CBD only stimulates and enhances the endocannabinoid system, which is responsible for the system in our body that helps regulate things like sleep, mood, appetite, pain, and our immune system. Therefore, some of our customers find it to be effective for treating things like inflammation and sleep disorders.

3. MYTH: YOU HAVE TO SMOKE CBD OIL

FACT: There are a plethora of different ways you can consume CBD, without a lighter insight – another key difference between CBD oil and marijuana.

From CBD vape oil that you can use as you would a regular vape pen, to sweets, sprays, and creams, there is bound to be a way you’ll enjoy. For general well-being, a typical dose is 10mg to 30mg per day.

4. MYTH: CBD HAS LOADS OF HEALTH RISKS

FACT: CBD is generally regarded as a very safe substance, which does not have any major adverse long or short-term effects.

The main side effect reported by users is fatigue – hence why it is often used by those suffering from conditions such as insomnia and anxiety. Also, because Cannabidiol UK is not psychoactive and does not produce a ‘high’, it is not addictive, and there are no adverse side-effects from frequent or excessive usage. However, CBD could potentially interact with common prescription medications, so it’s important you always seek the advice of your GP before trying our products.
